SAP or System Application and Processing is a business application used by corporations to manage their resources. One of its components is SAP Human Resources (HR). HR is necessary to plan and manage the people in an office. A good HR also sees that employees receive proper compensation.
What Is an SAP HR Infotype?
All information contained in the SAP HR system belongs to units called Infotypes. They help you store and manage all data in a systematic manner. They make data entry easier and are often used for administrative and payroll purposes.
Infotypes organize related data together to make it easier for you to evaluate them for decision-making. To you, they look like screens for data entry containing information that you input in data fields about the employees in your office. From first and last names, date of birth, to how many hours they’re clocking, Infotypes provide them a structure to make data entry more orderly.
How do infotypes work? First, you write the required details in appropriate data fields. The SAP HR system will check your input against table entries to make sure it’s accurate. With new information, the old data are stored as historical records.
In SAP HR Infotype list, there are five major groups, and under each of them there are more items. The five groups are Personnel Management, Personnel Time Management, Payroll, Training and Event Management, and Benefits Infotypes.

How To Use Time Management Status
Under Infotype 0007, Planned Working Time, you can assign three types of Time Management Statuses. They are:
- Processing only in Payroll’s time data processing: You can select whether an employee is selected for time evaluation. If you select a TMSTA value of 0, they will not be selected. Therefore, their wage type will depend on Payroll’s time data processing system.
- Processing time data in Time Evaluation and then passing it to Payroll: Selecting a TMSA value of 1 or 2 means the employee’s entire time data is recorded. On the other hand, a value of 9 means only the employee’s deviations from work schedule are noted. So, time evaluation will be based on their working time plan.
- Processing time data in Time Evaluation without passing it to Payroll: A TMSA value of 7 is used to manage special time data outside of actual time. Additionally, a value of 8 is used for external employees, whose time data are later assessed under Materials Management.
