When you arrive in Miami this morning and move into your hotel, you will meet with the members of the group to have a welcome briefing and to learn about the upcoming events for your charter flight from Miami to Havana the following day. (Please note that meals are included when you’re in Miami).
Today we will fly to Cuba. When we leave Cuban Immigration and Customs at the airport, we’ll get met by our Cuban Trip Leader, who will take us to the restaurant Il Divino one of Cuba’s top restaurants in the new trend of private-owned restaurants known as Paladares. Prior to our meal, we’ll make a stop at the farm that is a sustainable family-run and botanical garden that supplies fresh fruits and vegetables that are sold to Divino. After lunch, we’ll take a quick visit to Havana’s historic Plaza de la Revolucion before proceeding to Havana’s storied La Cabana, an 18th-century fortress located near the entry point of Havana’s Bay of Havana. We’ll then head towards our hotel, where we’ll be meeting the Grand Circle Foundation Representative. Our hotel is located on one of the most scenic boulevards that are in Habana Vieja (Old Havana), and a stroll through the area will show the historical restorations that have brought back some of the district’s previous beauty. As we walk, we will begin to understand why Havana’s historical heart has been awarded recognition from UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. We’ll be having dinner with our group tonight in a paladar known as La Moraleja in Havana’s Vedado district, where we’ll get the chance to discuss the struggles and successes that this group of young entrepreneurs has faced in their restaurant.
