Lincoln tunnel underwater: NYC commuters were in an even worse situation than 2020 when water suddenly began to flood into the Lincoln Tunnel. The footage is frightening!
On July 14, the Lincoln Tunnel became the terror of all who had ever traveled through it. Drivers sat bumper to bumper in the tunnel, which runs beneath the Hudson River to link Manhattan and Weehawken in New Jersey. They were shocked when water suddenly began gushing in. “Well, that is concerning,” commented driver Anthony Consiglio who uploaded the footage to his Instagram Stories. “I am inside the Lincoln Tunnel, which is underwater. “I’m sure there’s an entire movie about it, and everyone dies.”
Fortunately, nobody was hurt. The Port Authority is responsible for maintaining Lincoln Tunnel. It tweeted that the tunnel’s left lane would be closed for about 30 minutes because of emergency maintenance. A statement from HollywoodLife stated that it was not the Hudson River flooding the tunnel but ruptured water main in a Center Tube facility room.
According to the statement, the water main was “fixed,” and water was pumped out according to plan. According to NBC New York, the tunnel, which is a mile and a half long, is more than 80-years-old. It can accommodate approximately 1.5 million vehicles per month in New York. Two days later, on July 16, one of the commuters gave the thumbs-up when they made their trip. “I drove through the Lincoln Tunnel in no time. I haven’t heard any reports about a leaked this morning.”
