Interactive intelligence omscs: After a long time working in the private sector, Graziano thought about what was the next step for himself and his wife Robyn an mathematics teacher at a high school. When Robyn began an online master’s program in math, Graziano looked into going back to college and pursuing a new career that would allow them both the summer off.
While he did have a lot of experience in the field, Graziano hadn’t formally studied computer science until his bachelor’s studies at Boston College. This changed when Graziano discovered and applied to OMSCS in the year 2015.
While he was planning to pursue a degree in interactive intelligence, Graziano was captivated by the application of algorithms in a hands-on manner following a class with the class of Professor Thad Starner’s artificial intelligence (AI) course. Graziano changed to the machine-learning track and continued working alongside Starner on a specific research project that makes use of AI to find and stop the practice of plagiarism in Georgia Tech.
This project was a hit with Graziano since he realized the desire to become a teacher after completing his qualification. He had worked as an instructor assistant (TA) in his undergraduate days and also hosted training sessions during his career in the corporate world. After having fun with the graduate algorithm and applications, he was able to apply to be an instructor for the class.
Being a TA at OMSCS was the catalyst for Graziano’s career shift to become a college-level instructor. Learning how to run classes at a large scalecreating tests and grading rubrics making office hours and assisting students in multiple time zones – gave him invaluable knowledge to help him make the transition to academics.
