All american who is it based on: After the Friday Night Lights took its final conclusion, a new high school football-oriented drama is launching at the C.W. All American brings together Taye Diggs and Daniel Ezra as a coach and player duo that team up to create the future of their respective teams and provide a greater football career for his character Spencer. The title says it all. It’s a story deeply that is rooted in the stories we’ve read about often in the United States. However, does All American based on an actual story?
In the end, All Americans is actually an homage to the high school experiences of a former NFL player. As per The Los Angeles Times, Spencer Paysinger’s experiences serve as a basis for All American. The show’s Spencer moves out of his high school located at Crenshaw, Los Angeles, to an elite, wealthy high school located in Beverly Hills. The same happened to Paysinger, who, according to The Times reports, was born in a more rough southern-central L.A. neighborhood but played in the football team during his time at Beverly Hills High School. As per Forbes, Paysinger later was a part of the NFL, including stints in his team, the New York Giants, the New York Jets, the Miami Dolphins, and the Carolina Panthers, and then put his career on hold in the latter half of 2017.
He also stated that even though it is loosely based upon his own life, it’s not a copy of his life. Rather, he provided those who are working on the show his notes and personal stories of his experiences in general which could help in creating something that’s based on his own life. There are plenty of similarities between the shows, and he said that throughout the conversation. Beginning with the pilot that everyone will watch, I provided a number of personal stories and memories from my past to the scriptwriters to give them the freedom to create an intriguing story. It’s not 100 % my tale, but the basic tenets of it are completely exact.
